Blue waters, golden marshes and abundant wildlife fill the frames of “Louisiana: Close to Home and Close to Heart,” an exhibit by Westwego photographer Lane Lefort on display through Nov. 1 at the Barataria Preserve of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve in Marrero.

Lefort, a former employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has been shooting the Louisiana coast for most of his life. His work was recently featured in the traveling show “I Remember …,” sponsored by the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act Program.

“I’ve seen the changes in culture and environment. With photography you can’t go back; you have to capture the history and ecology in real time,” Lefort says. “I am thrilled to see what Louisiana’s nature will provide as inspiration on each visit.”
