On Friday, May 18, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. the eastbound side of St. Charles Avenue between Napoleon and Louisiana avenues will be closed to repair several water leaks, according to a New Orleans city news release.
Downtown-bound traffic will be detoured to Prytania Street at Napoleon. The lane shift for St. Charles Avenue westbound will remain while crews complete asphalt patching on that side.
The repaving project calls for removing damaged portions of the roadway and replacing it with new, smooth pavement; repaving the asphalt roadway from curb-to-curb; and installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curbs and ramps at intersections. The entire project will be completed in September.
Areas along St. Charles between Louisiana and Napoleon avenues will be designated no parking areas.
