Auditions set for free, high-level dance program _lowres

Auditions will be held May 29 and 30 for the preprofessional program of the NORDC/NOBA Center for Dance.

This tuition-free program is open to dance enthusiasts ages 9 to 18. It is sponsored by the New Orleans Ballet Association and the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission.

The program provides students with intensive instruction in various dance forms and unprecedented opportunities to study with world-renowned artists through the Chevron Master Artist Series. Through this program, students also are offered unique opportunities such as classes with NOBA Main Stage artists, performances on local and national stages, talent-based scholarships to attend prestigious summer dance programs and tickets to NOBA Main Stage performances.

Classes will be held weekly between September and May in the Chevron Studio at the Lyons NORDC Center and at Tulane University’s McWilliams Hall.

Auditions for current students will be Friday, with registration at 5:30 p.m. for ages 9 to 11 and at 7 p.m. for ages 12 to 18. Auditions for new students will take place Saturday, with registration at 9:30 a.m. for ages 9 to 11 and at 12:30 p.m. for ages 12 to 18. All auditions will take place in the Chevron Studio at the Lyons NORDC Center, 624 Louisiana Ave.
