A man who police said was shot by a customer while robbing a New Orleans East Shell station has died of his wounds.
Coroner Jeffrey Rouse said that Ronnie Magee, 26, died in the hospital on Tuesday from the wounds he sustained during the shooting, which happened around 5:00 a.m. on July 15 at 3901 Downman Road.
Police said previously that Magee had robbed a customer who then returned to his car, pulled out a handgun. Magee shot at the customer who then returned fire, police said.
After Magee collapsed, the customer held him at gunpoint until police arrived.
New Orleans Police Department spokesman Tyler Gamble said that the Homicide Division had taken over the investigation from the 7th District. No charges have been filed against the customer.
