Woman accused of attempted murder

Deputies said Melissa Veillard, 27, and her boyfriend of seven years were in their apartment in the 5100 block of Citrus Boulevard when he was injured. Both told deputies that the victim fell on scissors that had been resting on a dresser, according to an arrest report.
However, the victim’s injury was a downward puncture wound from his left shoulder that penetrated into his left lung, and deputies said he also had minor puncture wounds to his forearm and a cut to his left thumb that were consistent with defensive injuries.
Deputies also said an unnamed witness reported that Veillard’s boyfriend called the witness after the incident and said, “She stabbed me. She stabbed me.”
Veillard was booked on attempted second-degree murder. She remains in custody at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. A bail hearing is set for Friday.
