Ten Junior Girl Scouts from Belle Chasse Troop 40270 have earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can achieve. The award requires the completion of a series of leadership challenges that prepares them for their final take-action project.

With a desire to do something for a local school library after its reading class was removed, the troop created Adopt-A-Book, a reading and book swap program. The troop purchased a book dropbox, placing it near the school entrance for book donations, as well as decorating and using a bookshelf in the library. They are Abigail Briganti, Mackenzie Farris, Abby Frank, Faith Hardy, Ariana Huff, Magdelyn Mattison, Hope Pulido, Britanie Rivera, Svetlana Saxon and Kaitlyn Tarr. The project adviser was Pamela Keilman.
