In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, NORDC will participate in the K10 Citywide Day of Service on Aug. 29. This event will be one of the most comprehensive and unique service projects in the country, and it will bring thousands of volunteers together to support over 100 service projects in New Orleans.
Volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience are invited to take part in this unprecedented demonstration of resilience and community engagement.
As part of the commemoration efforts, NORDC will host a KaBOOM! playground build at the East Shore Playground from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at 14600 Curran Road. This build is a collaboration among Citgo Petroleum Corp., KaBOOM!, New Orleans, NORDC and the Kiwanis Club of Pontchartrain.
This project will create a safe place for children to play in New Orleans East and will contribute toward the city’s efforts to rally 10,000 volunteers to serve New Orleans communities during Katrina’s 10th anniversary week.
