A woman was robbed at gunpoint in a Mid City neighborhood early Saturday morning, New Orleans Police said.

Around 12:20 a.m. the 28-year-old woman was approached by an armed, unidentified man asking for her property on the 100 block of S. Dupre Street, police said.

When the woman was not moving fast enough, the man became aggravated and struck her multiple times with a gun, and the woman fell, police said.

The perpetrator fled with the woman's purse, police said.
