Man killed Saturday afternoon in Mid-City

A 23-year-old man died Saturday afternoon in Mid-City after being shot in the head, New Orleans police said.

About 12:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a man shot in the 3500 block of D’Hemecourt Street. When officers arrived, they found he had been fatally shot on the front porch of a home in the block.

The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of family.

Double shooting critically injures man

A double shooting in New Orleans East early Saturday morning left a 32-year-old man in critical condition.

Police said officers responded about 1 a.m. to reports of gunshots in the 7100 block of Downman Street, where they found two men suffering from bullet wounds. Both were taken to a hospital.

The second victim, a 24-year-old man, was listed in stable condition.

At 6 p.m., police reported another shooting in New Orleans East. A man suffered a graze wound to the arm at Interstate 10 westbound and Morrison Road.

Police report three armed robberies

Police reported three armed robberies in New Orleans between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

The first incident happened in Gentilly Terrace about 2:40 p.m. Friday, when police said a 19-year-old man was held up at gunpoint while standing at a bus stop.

The victim was in the 2600 block of Jonquil Street when two armed men approached him and demanded his property. The robbers hit the man on the head with a gun and said, “Give everything up,” police said. They fled after the victim complied.

About 8:30 p.m. Friday, another man was robbed at gunpoint in the St. Roch neighborhood, police said.

The 34-year-old victim was in the 1900 block of Almonaster Avenue when three strangers pulled out guns and demanded money. The men searched the victim’s pockets and truck and stole his wallet, money, medication and cellphone before fleeing.

Police reported a third armed robbery in New Orleans East on Saturday morning.

The incident happened about 6 a.m. in the 4600 block of Perelli Drive. No other information was immediately available.

Man carjacked on Iberville Street

A 19-year-old man was carjacked in New Orleans early Saturday morning.

The man told police he was inside his car in the 1500 block of Iberville Street about 1:40 a.m. when two armed men approached him. They forced him out of the car and drove away in it, police said.

Police report aggravated rape

A 19-year-old woman was raped Friday night in the Lower Garden District, according to New Orleans police.

The woman said she was visiting a friend in the 800 block of St. Mary Street about 6 p.m. when she was assaulted.

Police said she knew her attacker.

Jefferson Parish reports two armed robberies

Two armed robberies were reported in Jefferson Parish on Friday night and Saturday morning.

A man suffered minor injuries after being held up at gunpoint in the 600 block of Lauricella Avenue in Jefferson.

The 911 headquarters of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the incident at 10:30 p.m.

On Saturday morning, the Sheriff’s Office reported another armed robbery just before 3 a.m. in Bridge City.

A Brothers food store was held up in the 1000 block of Seven Oaks Boulevard, according to 911 headquarters. No injuries were reported.

Man reported shot in Terrytown on Friday

A man was shot Friday in Terrytown, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office 911 headquarters said the shooting happened in the 1600 block of Cooper Road and that the injuries were not life-threatening.

Officials reported the incident about 7:15 p.m.
