A New Orleans man who allegedly raped an acquaintance after threatening to kill her has been booked on charges of rape and false imprisonment.

Robert Nix, 49, allegedly told a friend she could come to his house after she got into an argument with her fiance around 12:30 a.m. on March 4. The victim became uneasy inside Nix’s home in the 4000 block of Errato Street and tried to leave, police said, but he blocked her way.

Nix then threw the victim on a bed and pinned her down, Sex Crimes Unit Detective Keisha Ferdinand said in an arrest warrant. Nix allegedly claimed he owned a gun and threatened to kill the victim if she did not have sex with him, then forced her to perform oral sex.

The woman was able to escape when she convinced Nix to let her go outside for a cigarette, Ferdinand said.

Nix was arrested on May 20. He is being held on $125,000 bond.
