ST. BERNARD PARISH HOSPITAL: As St. Bernard Parish Hospital marked its third anniversary, it celebrated the official opening of its comprehensive rehabilitation center. The ribbon-cutting Sept. 18 was followed by tours and a reception.

The facility offers state-of-the-art physical, speech and occupational therapies, including monitored cardiac rehabilitation.

“This new rehabilitation center provides convenience to individuals living or working in the parish. The facility is open to anyone needing therapy. We have an exceptional team of certified therapists,” hospital CEO Charles Lindell said. The team comprises 11 certified therapists, led by Kimberly Stewart. LOUISIANA WALKS FOR PARKINSON’S: The Parkinson’s Action Network will hold Louisiana Walks for Parkinson’s at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Lafreniere Park Foundation Center, Metairie. The event will include a silent auction and parade of prizes. Registration is $25, which includes a T-shirt and refreshments. The Midnight Special band will perform from noon to 3 p.m. Proceeds from the walk will be used for education and awareness, and the provide scholarships for Louisianans to attend the 2016 PAN Forum in Washington, D.C.
