A man was shot to death Tuesday night in the courtyard of a Metairie condominium building, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Dispatchers began to receive calls about gunfire at the Riverside Court Condominiums in the 6300 block of Riverside Drive about 8:45 p.m., said Glen Boyd, a sheriff’s office spokesman.

Deputies arrived to find the unidentified victim lying on the pavement in the complex’s courtyard. He was shot several times and died on the scene, Boyd said.

Witnesses told investigators they saw two people dressed in dark clothing and wearing hooded sweatshirts run away after the shooting.

Police did not immediately have a motive for the killing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office’s Investigations Bureau at (504) 364-5300 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
