The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission Teen Council is inviting teens ages 13-17 to the Back to School Kickback Dance from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Lyons Recreation Center, 624 Louisiana Ave.

The dance is free for NORDC Teen Council members and $5 for nonmembers. Teens may sign up for the Teen Council (and get a free ticket) or purchase tickets at the following New Orleans locations:

Lyons Recreation Center, 624 Louisiana Ave.

Joe W. Brown Recreation Center, 5601 Read Blvd.

Treme Recreation Center, 900 N. Villere St.

St. Bernard Recreation Center, 1500 Lafreniere St.

Behrman Recreation Center, 2529 General Meyer Ave.

Cut-Off Recreation Center, 6600 Belgrade St.

The dance will feature a DJ, giveaways, a dance contest and photo opportunities. Concessions will be sold. A photo ID is required for admission, and all teens must be signed out by an adult upon exit.

The NORDC Teen Council empowers young people by developing a social growth environment through structured programs. These emerging leaders actively participate in civic and community engagement by designing and implementing citywide teen programming.

Membership is free and open to all teens who reside in New Orleans. The NORDC Teen Council and the Chevron Future Leaders Program are supported by Chevron.
