Army Week NOLA and Bastion will co-host the Joint Forces D-Day 70th anniversary ball on June 5, at the National WWII Museum, 1043 Magazine St., New Orleans.

Former WDSU anchor Norman Robinson will serve as master of ceremonies at the event to commemorate the sacrifices of military heroes and raise money to support local veterans programs. The Warrior Spirit Band will provide entertainment.

The cocktail reception will start at 6:30 p.m., followed by a program that will include the presentation of the Soldier for Life Award to John P. Laborde in recognition of his historic service to Gen. Douglas MacArthur and his 50 years of dedication, leadership, philanthropy and commitment to the community. Sgt. Maj. Bryan Battaglia, senior enlisted adviser to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will be presented with the Distinguished Service Award at the event.

Tickets to the black-tie military ball are $150 per person and can be purchased at Corporate sponsorships are available. Proceeds benefit the remodeling and rebuilding of NOLA VFW 8973 and Bastion, a nonprofit dedicated to building an intentional community to provide services to veterans with permanent, life-altering injuries.
