Police have arrested the man suspected of robbing the Snowizard sno-ball stand located on Magazine Street, authorities announced Saturday night.

Robert Cooper, 50, was arrested Friday after detectives identified him through a Crimestoppers tip.

On Wednesday, about 5:50 p.m., police said Cooper approached the window, armed with a gun, and demanded money from an employee. As the employee escaped to the back of the business, Cooper took the tip jar off the counter. He then fled, police said.

Cooper was arrested about 8:15 p.m. Friday in the 4000 block of Perrier Street.

A subsequent search of Cooper’s residence at in the 1200 block of Marengo Street revealed clothing worn during the robbery and a .22 caliber revolver police believe was used to commit the crime.

Cooper was charged with armed robbery.
