Prom will be a Cinderella event for economically disadvantaged teenage girls who receive a stylish, free prom dress through the Dress Me Beautiful project of the Ladies First Foundation Inc., in partnership with the New Orleans Public Library.

The Ladies First Foundation Inc. is collecting new and gently-loved prom dresses and accessories that will be distributed free to young women.

Last year Ladies First Foundation collected more than 400 dresses and helped provide a memorable experience for high school girls who might otherwise not have gone to their special night.

“Prom is one of the most momentous occasions in a girl’s high school career,” explains Ladies First founder Michelle Hymes. “Through our partnership with the New Orleans Public Library, we want to make sure no girl has to forfeit her high school prom because they can not afford prom attire.”

The Dress Me Beautiful giveaway event will be April 18 at the East New Orleans Regional Library, 5641 Read Blvd., New Orleans. Girls interested in receiving a free gown must register at www.surveymonkey.com/s/dressmebeautiful.
