Man slain after answering knock
NEW ORLEANS — A man who responded to a knock on a bedroom window of his Algiers residence was shot and killed, the New Orleans Police Department reported.
The 37-year-old victim, whose identity was not released, went to the window of his home in the 3500 block of Bacchus Drive after being startled by a knock on his bedroom window, the release says.
He went to the window to investigate when a man shot him once in the chest from outside the house, the release says.
“Officers arrived and found the victim lying in the hallway of the residence,” the release says.
“He’s been shot in the body and died on the scene.”
Investigators were gathering evidence to identify the shooter and motive.
Man shot at Decatur, Bienville streets
NEW ORLEANS —Police searched Saturday for a man accused of a shooting at the intersection of Decatur and Bienville streets.
A relative of the victim was involved in a fight around 2:15 a.m. Saturday at a nearby club when the victim began walking toward him, police said in a news release.
As the victim was walking toward Bienville Street, one person involved in the fight fired multiple shots at the victim and hit him in the buttocks, the release says.
The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening, the release said.
The shooter is described as a black man with medium complexion about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a slim build and was seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans, police reported.
