New Orleans police arrested a 12-year-old boy Thursday in connection with two Uptown robberies.
The first robbery happened about 4 p.m. in the 6000 block of Magazine Street. A 65-year-old woman told investigators she had been riding her bike when a boy approached her with a pistol and demanded her purse. The boy fled on a bicycle toward State Street, police said.
As police were investigating that robbery, two youths approached them and said they had been robbed of $2 as they waited for a bus at Napoleon Avenue and Prytania Street about 4:15 p.m. Police said the victims gave the same description of the robber as the woman had.
Officers said they found the boy about 4:30 p.m., sitting in a park near Napoleon and South Saratoga Street. They said he had a BB gun and $2.
