METAIRIE —The third annual Math Olympiad was held on the Metairie Park Country Day campus recently.
Participating schools were Country Day, Isidore Newman, Metairie Academy, St. George’s, St. Martin’s, McGehee and St. Paul’s. About 75 students in fourth through sixth grade took part.
Newman School’s sixth-grade Green Team won first place, and the sixth-grade White Team won second place. Newman’s Nora Nez won first place in individual competition. Country Day sixth-grader Logan Landry came in second and Newman’s Emma Freeman took third.
The Country Day Math Olympiad team included Beverly Caplan, Logan Landry, Jackson Buchmeyer, Akash Melachuri, David Ryan, Justin Ibieta, Tabony Rock, Logan Collier, Cosmo Foti, Chloe Townsend, Sully Howard, Ethan Katz, Thomas Saer, Katie Hennessy, Emmet Morrison, CD St. Hilaire and Brandt Whitaker.
Newman’s sixth-grade Green Team included Emma Freeman, Nora Nez, Audrey Singer, Ben Singer, and Will Wellons; the sixth-grade White Team included Tabor Brewster, Keil Moss, Millie Mince, Camille Patton and Emmy Pilant; and the fifth-grade team included Seth Cooke, Niyati Duggal, Max Moses, Harry Milvid and Filippo Meozzi.
