A woman called the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office about 2:45 a.m. Saturday to report that her mother had been shot by her stepfather after an argument in the 4100 block of Clearview Parkway.

Officers found the woman, 53, lying on the bathroom floor with gunshot wounds to the arm and face. She was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries, which are not considered life-threatening.

Deputies arrested her husband, David Kramer, 47, a sergeant with the Louisiana Department of Public Safety’s Crescent City Connection police unit, and booked him on one count of attempted first-degree murder.

State Police Superintendent Col. Mike Edmonson placed Kramer on administrative leave.

Crime scene technicians recovered a revolver believed to have been used in the shooting.
