Masked gunmen robbed an armored car crew that was stocking an automated teller machine at an Esplanade Ridge bank branch Sunday, New Orleans police said.

As many as three suspects dressed in black approached the Brink’s crew, whose armored car was parked behind the Chase Bank branch at 1425 North Broad Street.

They got away with an undisclosed amount of money during the 11:55 a.m. robbery, NOPD Officer Garry Flot said.

No injuries were reported during the heist, during which the suspects fled through residents’ back yards adjacent to the bank. “They fled through the neighborhood,” Flot said.

The bank, at North Broad and DeSoto streets, was closed. Customers continued using the drive-up facilities as police investigated the crime and canvassed the adjacent neighborhood for the suspects seen carrying bags with money.

A woman at a neighboring business said she learned of the heist from a man who ran out onto North Broad announcing the robbery. “It happened really fast,” she said.
