Twenty members of the New Orleans Police Department’s new NOLA Patrol graduated on Thursday, clearing the way for the civilian officers to be assigned to several non-emergency tasks in the 8th District, which includes the French Quarter and Central Business District.

The civilian officers are expected to hit the streets of the Quarter on Monday with the authority to write citations and summonses for parking violations, oversized vehicles, illegal dumping and several other offenses.

The NOLA Patrol members received nearly 200 hours of training at the NOPD Training Academy.
