Two people are dead, and three others injured after three shootings and two stabbings in a string of violent crime in New Orleans on Friday night and into Saturday morning.
According to New Orleans police, the first fatal shooting occurred around 10 p.m. in the 7800 block of Forshey Street. Officers arrived at the scene and found a man lying in the driveway of an automotive business. He was shot multiple times, NOPD said, and pronounced dead at the scene.
The second fatal shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. NOPD responded to a call at an apartment complex in the 11000 block of Roger Drive. When officers arrived, they discovered a man, 38, dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.
Details on the other two incidents:
-- Around 5 p.m., a 54-year-old man was inside a residence in the 3300 block Garden Oaks Drive and was hitting his his step-daughter, who retrieved a knife, followed the man outside and stabbed him in the right shoulder. Phung Le, 26, was arrested.
-- Around 8 p.m., a 44-year-old man was exiting his vehicle in the 7100 block of East Renaissance Court when a man approached and tried robbing him. An altercation ensued, and the robber pulled a gun and shot the victim.
-- Around 8:15 p.m., a 12-year-old boy stabbed another 12-year-old boy in the 3300 block of Garden Oaks Drive. The stabber was arrested.
