New Orleans police are working two fatal shootings Tuesday morning, one in the 800 block of North Roman Street in Treme and the other in the 3500 block of Piety Street in the Desire area.
Little information was immediately available about either shooting. The victim in the North Roman shooting was a woman, police said, but they gave no other information.
In the other shooting, police responded to a medical call at around 7:20 a.m. and found a male victim lying dead in the 3500 block of Piety Street of gunshot wounds. Orleans Parish Coroner Jeffrey Rouse has identified the victim as 15-year-old George Carter..
The two fatal shootings came on the heels of two non-fatal shootings late Monday, one in the 6100 block of North Claiborne Avenue in the Lower 9th Ward and the other in the 2200 block of Gen. Taylor Street in Broadmoor.
In both of those cases, a male victim was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital for treatment. The Uptown Messenger on Tuesday morning reported that the Gen. Taylor shooting was ruled accidental after police determined the man shot himself.
Anyone with information about either shooting is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504.822.1111.
