Coroner IDs two killed in separate shootings

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office on Monday identified a boy and a man shot to death in recent days.

Corey Martin, 15, was gunned down about 7:20 p.m. Sunday near Bartholomew Street and North Claiborne Avenue, said John Gagliano, the coroner’s chief investigator.

Chris Parish, 24, was identified as the man found Thursday evening behind a home in the 2700 block of Cleveland Avenue in Mid-City.

Police have not identified a suspect or motive in either killing.

Gunfire wounds man Saturday in Reserve

A 22-year-old Reserve man was shot multiple times outside his home Saturday, the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

The shooting happened about 3 a.m. in the 200 block of Chad B. Baker Street.

Witnesses told investigators that the victim walked outside and a short time later they heard gunfire. The man then walked back inside, saying he had been shot.

He was struck three times, once each in the chest, arm and leg, and was taken to Interim LSU Hospital in New Orleans to be treated, the Sheriff’s Office said. His condition was not available.

Armed man breaks window, threatens man

A man was lying in bed Saturday afternoon when he heard someone break a window at his home in the 1200 block of Elmira Street in Algiers about 4:20 p.m.

A man the victim said he knows as “Vic” stuck a handgun through the window and said, “I’m gonna teach you about respecting people.”

The victim said he ran to his kitchen and called police.

The victim said Vic might drive a white Cadillac Escalade and live in the neighborhood.

Two women beaten, stabbed on Bourbon

Two women were stabbed during a fight early Sunday on Bourbon Street, New Orleans police said.

After one of the women went to get a drink, her friend found her being beaten by a group of men and women in the 700 block about 3 a.m.

The friend tried to pull away her friend but was also beaten.

Both women were stabbed multiple times, police said.

The attackers ran away.
