A group for survivors of suicide loss will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, starting in September, at the NAMI New Orleans Uptown Friendship Club, 1538 Louisiana Ave., New Orleans. Parking is available on the ground floor. The meeting room is on the second floor. The free support group is for people whose lives have been impacted by the loss of a loved one, friend, neighbor or co-worker to suicide.

The New Orleans affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness has four family support groups for family members or loved ones of persons living with mental illness.

  • On the first Wednesday of each month, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., NAMI New Orleans Uptown location, 1538 Louisiana Ave.
  • On the second Monday of each month, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sojourner Truth Neighborhood Center, 2200 Lafitte St.
  • On the third Tuesday of each month, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., NAMI New Orleans Westbank location, 2051 8th St., Harvey.
  • On the fourth Thursday of each month, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Congregation Beth Israel, 4004 West Esplanade Ave., Metairie.

Connection support groups, for people living with a mental illness, meet on Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 1538 Louisiana Ave., New Orleans; and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to noon at 2051 8th St., Harvey.
