Beginning Monday, all traffic on Jefferson Avenue in Uptown New Orleans will be relocated from the west side of the paved median to the east side of the paved median between Pitt Street and Danneel Street.

This is part of the SELA Jefferson Avenue Phase II project to improve drainage in the neighborhood by constructing a new drainage canal under Jefferson.

Traffic crossovers will take place south of St. Charles Avenue between Pitt and Atlanta streets and north of St. Charles between Dryades and Danneel streets.

Traffic traveling east on Danneel to Jefferson will only be allowed to turn right into the riverbound traffic lane on Jefferson.

The intersection of Pitt and Jefferson will be closed to through traffic for the duration of this phase of construction to allow for the traffic crossover south of St. Charles.

Also beginning on Monday, B&K Contractors will begin work at Jefferson and Clara streets that will result in full closure of that intersection for two months. This work is part of the SELA Jefferson Avenue Phase I project.

Traffic detours will be set up to reroute traffic to Nashville Avenue. Local traffic will have access.
