A black Michael Kors purse, a Coach wallet and two bottles of Vicodin were among the objects recovered from the 2004 Cadillac DeVille of a Metairie man who police say ransacked cars parked in the Harrah’s Casino garage on Convention Center Boulevard and other lots in the Central Business District.
Police arrested Ian Porche, 31, on April 8 for allegedly committing a string of burglaries from parked vehicles in the CBD. Police said a parking garage employee called them after recognizing Porche as a car burglar.
Porche admitted to breaking into one vehicle using a metal window punch, one police report said. That vehicle was stripped of a laptop and accessories.
Video surveillance also showed Porche working his way up and down rows of cars searching for unlocked vehicles, police reports state.
After initially bonding out on counts of burglary and illegal possession of stolen things, Porche was arrested again at the 8th District Station on April 10 when he asked how he could get his Cadillac back. Police said they had linked him to additional crimes based on the purse, wallet, pills and other items found in the car.
Porche may have stashed the belongings of more than 20 people inside the tan sedan, police said Wednesday at a Comstat meeting.
Porche is being held in Orleans Parish Prison. He was booked on two counts of auto burglary, possession of stolen goods, tampering and possession of stolen prescription narcotics.
