Police arrested one of two suspects in an armed robbery that occurred early Tuesday morning in the 700 block of Carondelet Street near Lafayette Square.
The victim, 28, was walking just after 1 a.m. when two suspects surrounded him. The first suspect — Eric McBride, 43, who was later apprehended by police — came up on a bike, while the second suspect, who is still at large, came up behind the victim with a handgun, according to police records.
McBride allegedly demanded the victim’s valuables while the second suspect held a gun to his head.
They both then fled with the victim’s IPhone 5, wallet and watch, according to a police release.
Police found McBride hiding behind a vehicle, while canvassing shortly after the incident and arrested him.
Detectives are looking into McBride’s possible involvement in other local robberies, according to a police release.
