The ferry line between Canal Street and Algiers Point will run for extended hours on New Year’s Eve.

Revelers will be able to catch the ferry, which carries only pedestrians, to the West Bank until 1:15 a.m., according to the Regional Transit Authority. The last ferry back from Algiers Point will leave at 1 a.m.

Ferry service will be suspended briefly before, during and after the midnight fireworks display on the river, according to the RTA.

The ferry will resume a normal schedule of 6 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, New Year’s Day.

The Chalmette ferry will run its normal schedule of 6 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
