A 14-year-old boy was arrested Monday in Kenner after shooting two students with an Airsoft pellet gun, officials said.

The 14-year-old shot two 12-year-old students at Roosevelt Middle School in Kenner, Kenner Police Department spokesman Lt. Brian McGregor said in a news release. One girl was hit in the leg and the second girl was hit in the stomach, McGregor said.

Neither girl was injured.

The 14-year-old, who was not identified because of his age, was arrested and taken to the Jefferson Parish Juvenile Assessment Center. He remains in custody pending a continued custody hearing in juvenile court, McGregor said.

He has been charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and two counts of battery. He has also been suspended from school.
