Six men held up at N. Broad St. barbershop

Six men were victims of an armed robbery Friday night when two gunmen held up a barber shop in the 6th Ward, according to New Orleans police.

The victims, between the ages of 21 and 54, were in the Exclusive Barber Shop in the 800 block of North Broad Street about 7 p.m. when two men entered with semiautomatic weapons and demanded money.

After the victims complied, the gunmen fled with $1,750 in cash and an ID.

Police: Home invasion reported in Central City

A home invasion was reported in Central City on Friday afternoon after a man impersonated an exterminator to enter a 90-year-old woman’s home.

The woman was in her house in the 3700 block of Washington Avenue about 2:15 p.m. when the man came in pretending to do work, New Orleans police said.

Once inside, he demanded the woman’s property and hit her. Police said they don’t know if he took any of her belongings.

Unidentified driver dies in St. John wreck

State Police have yet to identify a driver whose Pontiac Grand Prix caught fire after hitting a tree Friday night in St. John the Baptist Parish.

The wreck happened about 8 p.m. Friday on U.S. 51, about 1.5 miles north of Interstate 10, Trooper Melissa Matey, of Troop B, said Saturday in a news release.

The 1994 Pontiac was traveling south on U.S. 51 when it veered off the road to the right and started spinning. The back of the car smacked a tree and burst into flames. The driver died at the scene.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, and speed apparently was a factor, Matey said.

It is not known whether the driver was impaired; toxicology tests will be done during an autopsy.

Man shot in legs Saturday in Tremé

A man was shot in both legs Saturday evening in the Tremé neighborhood, according to New Orleans police.

Shortly before 5 p.m., the victim arrived at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. He told police he had been shot near North Galvez Street and Orleans Avenue.

Officers were trying to find the exact location where the shooting happened. No further information was available.

Armed robbery reported in Metairie

A man was robbed at gunpoint Friday afternoon in Metairie, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The incident in the 7900 block of Airline Drive was reported by 911 headquarters just before 4 p.m.

The man was not injured.

Suspects wanted for business burglary

New Orleans police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two men wanted for burglarizing Cajun Seafood in the 7th Ward.

The incident took place Thursday in the 1400 block of North Claiborne Avenue, police said.

The men entered the business through the front side entrance about 3 a.m. Once inside, they stole the store’s ATM and loaded it into a light-colored pickup truck before driving away.

Police looking for Uptown car thieves

New Orleans police are asking the public to help identify two men wanted in connection with an auto theft that happened Uptown on Tuesday.

About 10 p.m., a 21-year-old man parked his car in the 800 block of Broadway. The next day, he discovered it was missing.

Detectives learned through surveillance video that a dark-colored Nissan Versa or similar car pulled up behind the victim’s vehicle about 10:20 p.m., police said.

A man got out of the passenger side and walked to the victim’s vehicle, the video showed. He got in it and drove off with the car.

The suspect appeared to be a man wearing shorts and a hooded sweatshirt.

The stolen car is described as a dark green 2005 Ford F250 XLT bearing Louisiana license plate number B960267.
