Chefs and business partners Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski have created the Link Stryjewski Foundation, with the mission of addressing the persistent cycle of violence and poverty, as well as the lack of quality education and job training opportunities available to young people in the New Orleans area.
The foundation will hold a bal masque fundraiser Jan. 9 at the Orpheum Theater, 129 Roosevelt Way, New Orleans.
The foundation will provide support to organizations that directly work to end the cycle of violence and poverty that affect the lives of children. Kingsley House and Youth Empowerment Project, two New Orleans-based nonprofit organizations, were named as the initial beneficiaries of the foundation’s support.
Chefs who have pledged their support to the inaugural bal masque include Mario Batali, Paul Kahan, Nancy Oakes, Richard Reddington, Suzanne Goin, Andrea Reusing, Mike Lata and Frank Stitt. Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will be the musical headliner for the evening.
Tickets to the bal masque are $1,000 at www.linkstryjewski.org.
