Kidnapping foiled in New Orleans East
Early Wednesday morning, a man with a handgun forced a 17-year-old woman into his car at Bergerac Place and Dwyer Boulevard in New Orleans East, police said.
The woman was waiting at a bus stop about 6:30 a.m. when a car approached. The passenger got out and forced the woman into the front seat. As the vehicle drove off, the man forced the victim into the back seat, climbed over the front seat and began unbuckling his pants, police said.
The woman managed to escape by opening the door and jumping out of the moving vehicle. She was treated for abrasions to her wrists and ankle.
The vehicle was described as a tan or light-colored four-door sedan with a black stripe above the rear bumper.

Inmate found with contraband in OPP
Harold Camper, an inmate in Orleans Parish Prison, was booked Tuesday on one count of having contraband in prison.
On Jan. 6, Sheriff’s Office deputies searched the prison block where Camper was housed and discovered a metal rod in his property bag. Because the rod can be used to create shanks, or homemade knives, it is considered contraband.
Camper already is awaiting trial on one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Police arrest man for Bywater burglary
Police arrested a 57-year-old man and booked him on an aggravated burglary that occurred about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Darryl Morgan allegedly knocked on the door of a 24-year-old woman’s home in the 3700 block of St. Claude Avenue and asked if she could call him a cab.
As the victim tried to close the door to get her cellphone, Morgan allegedly pushed his way into the house, attacked her and demanded money.
The victim’s screams alerted neighbors who, with the help of someone walking by, forced the front door open, according to police. They managed to subdue Morgan until the police came.
Both Morgan and the victim suffered minor injuries.
Man sought after car chase with cops
About 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, New Orleans police officers near Conti and North Gayoso streets spotted a man driving a blue Cadillac CTS that had been reported stolen earlier in the day from the 5300 block of Eastern Street.
The driver refused to stop and sped away, striking two police cars and causing minor damage.
Officers lost sight of the stolen vehicle, but with the assistance of OnStar, they later found it abandoned in the 500 block of South Alexander Street.
Police are looking for the unknown driver.
Police looking for three armed robbers
Police are searching for three men involved in an armed robbery that took place Jan. 9 at Elk Place and Canal Street.
A man was walking about 6:20 p.m. when the trio accosted him. One of the three implied he was armed and demanded the man’s property, which he surrendered.

Police searching for four in robbery
New Orleans police are looking for four people — two men and two women — who robbed a man Monday in the 100 block of Carondelet Street.
After the two women attacked the 34-year-old man about 3 a.m., two men came up and helped hold him down. One of the robbers took his wallet.

Man’s apartment robbed at knife point
Two men followed a 66-year-old man into his apartment in the 900 block of Josephine Street about 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The suspects forced him onto his bed at knife point and searched his residence for valuables.
