Woman stabbed to death in Grand Isle

A woman was stabbed to death by her boyfriend late Saturday night on a Grand Isle beach, according to Glen Boyd, a spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Boyd identified the woman as 34-year-old Jennifer Dorzier, of Chauvin.

He said the stabbing occurred about 10:30 p.m. Saturday near Cypress Lane and La. 1 after the man and woman argued.

The woman was stabbed multiple times and died at the scene. Her 1-year-old child was nearby, according to Boyd.

A Grand Isle resident witnessed the stabbing and called 911.

Grand Isle police and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies captured Randy Paul Marcel, 28, also of Chauvin, after he ran from the scene, Boyd said.

Marcel and the victim had been dating for about five years. He is not the father of the child, who will be placed in the state’s care, Boyd said.

10-year-old boy shot in car on I-10 in Kenner

A 10-year-old boy was injured in Kenner on Saturday afternoon when a man on parole for drug charges fired into a moving car, according to Sgt. Brian McGregor, a spokesman for the Kenner Police Department.

McGregor said the incident happened about 2 p.m. on Interstate 10. He said David Jackson, 26, of New Orleans, was driving a 2004 Acura westbound when he became agitated at a 50-year-old man driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup.

The two cars took turns passing each other several times as they approached Kenner, according to McGregor. He said Jackson then fired into the pickup, hitting the 10-year-old boy. The driver of the pickup then rammed Jackson’s car.

Both cars were eventually stopped by Kenner police after exiting I-10 onto Williams Boulevard.

Jackson was booked for aggravated criminal damage to property, attempted second-degree murder, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal carrying of weapons, multiple traffic violations and possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine. Police said he was on probation for gun and drug charges at the time of his arrest.

The 10-year-old was taken to Interim LSU Hospital in stable condition. He suffered a graze wound to the nose area, and bullet fragments struck him in his sinus cavity, McGregor said.

McGregor said Kenner police will consult with the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office about whether charges should be filed against the driver of the pickup. No other injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
