A 9-year-old River Ridge girl who had been reported missing has been found safe, according to a statement issued by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office had been investigating the disappearance of 9-year-old Jamainia Larnett.

According to a statement issued by the JPSO, officers were dispatched to 524 Starrett Road in River Ridge upon receiving a report of a missing child, identified as Jamainia Larnett.

The girl’s grandmother, Tammy Smith, told officers she had picked Larnett up from a party, then stopped briefly by their home on the way to Smith’s job doing lawn care. While Smith went into the residence, she told Larnett to wait in the pickup truck.

Upon returning, however, Smith said the girl was nowhere to be found. Smith said she searched the area to no avail and alerted authorities to the situration.

Jamainia Larnett is 9 years old and was described as a black femaile, 5 feet tall weighing 98 pounds. At the time of her disappearance she was wearing a pink shirt, blue jeans or pink pants, and a blue ribbon in her hair.
