With forecasters predicting showers and thunderstorms Saturday, St. John the Baptist Parish officials have decided to change the trick-or-treating date to Friday.

Little ghouls and goblins can now go door-to-door for candy from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., said parish spokeswoman Baileigh Rebowe Helm.

The threat of heavy rain and scary weather Saturday has led public officials in East Baton Rouge and elsewhere across the state to consider changing trick-or-treat hours.
