An unidentified man was killed in Kenner after being caught inside of an industrial machine and crushed.

The accident occurred about noon on Thursday at Pellerin Milnor Corporation, located at 700 Jackson Avenue in Kenner, according to police.

According to responders, the man, 58, became trapped under the machine -- an Okuma Macturn 550-W -- which is a rotating tool. The victim had worked at the site for six years, according to police, and was a “master operator” of the machine.

The man had reportedly failed to engage the safety-shut off when he was working on the rotating parts of the machine and was crushed inside. Police said he was pronounced dead on scene.

The victim’s identity is being withheld until family can be notified.
