Police release image of homicide suspect
New Orleans police hope that surveillance images will help them identify a man suspected in a Gentilly homicide.
Police believe the unknown man killed Chad Forest, 31, about 8 a.m. Sept. 1 in the 2600 block of Dreux Avenue.

Four arrested in 9th Ward armed robbery
Four people have been arrested for alleged roles in a recent armed robbery of two men who thought they were meeting a woman they had spoken to on social media.
Andre Williams, 23; Myles Love, 20; Eric Carr, 19; and Tonice Hamilton, 19, each were booked with two counts of armed robbery, police said. Williams also faces two counts of illegal possession of stolen things.
The suspects allegedly robbed the victims, ages 22 and 25, about 4 a.m. Aug. 28 in the 2700 block of Monticello Street in the Lower 9th Ward.
The victims told police they arranged a date with a woman they had chatted with on the social media site Tagged.
When the victims arrived at the agreed-upon location, a woman on the porch told them to back their truck into the driveway. Once they did that, several unknown men appeared and ordered the victims out of the car.
The men then robbed the victims of their belongings and took the 2010 Nissan Titan they arrived in.
Detectives tracked the victims’ cellphones to the 1600 block of North Prieur Street, where they found the truck.
They found the victims’ belongings inside a home after obtaining a search warrant.
Man pleads guilty to 1990 rape, beating
A man jailed on a decades-old rape charge pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Darrell Johnson, 50, pleaded guilty as charged to the 1990 rape that happened in an empty St. Roch washateria.
The victim was ambushed in October of that year while waiting for a bus at North Prieur Street and Franklin Avenue. Johnson dragged her into the empty business, where he beat and raped her.
The victim could not identify her assailant but police were able to recover DNA evidence from her clothes and body. That evidence was used to link Johnson to the case, the District Attorney’s Office said.
Johnson’s sentence must be served without the possibility of probation, parole, suspension of sentence or reduction for good behavior.
Police search for van in N.O. East shooting
New Orleans police on Tuesday were searching for a van that was involved in a quintuple shooting Monday night in New Orleans East.
Surveillance footage released by police shows a white van pull up near the corner of Dale Street and Chef Menteur Highway about 7:45 p.m.
A man carrying an assault rifle gets out of the van and fires multiple shots, striking five men, ages 20, 31, 35, 54 and 61.
The man then gets back in the van, which drives away.
Police have not provided information on the victims’ conditions, nor have they identified a motive for the shooting.

Man threatens girl during home invasion
A man broke into a Mid-City home Monday morning and threatened to kill the victim’s daughter if the police were called.
Police allege Raymond Johnson, 21, broke into the home in the 600 block of South Hennessey Street about 10 a.m.
The victim, a 39-year-old woman, confronted Johnson, whom she recognized, and demanded he return the property he was holding.
According to police, Johnson pulled out a knife and said, “If you call the police, I will kill your daughter.”
The victim’s brother and Johnson then got into a fight, but Johnson was able to escape. The victim and her brother followed him.
After another fight, police arrived. Johnson escaped again but was eventually arrested in the 4200 block of South Carrollton Avenue.
He was booked with counts of home invasion, burglary, possession of stolen goods, resisting an officer and two outstanding warrants.
Three rob convenience store in Hollygrove
Three men robbed a Hollygrove convenience store at gunpoint Monday afternoon.
The man walked into the Magnolia Discount Market in the 9200 block of Airline Highway about 4:25 p.m. and demanded money from the cash register.
The clerk handed over the cash, and the robbers ran away.
N.O. police investigate rape reported in Algiers
New Orleans police are investigating a rape that was reported Monday evening in Algiers.
Police provided few details about the incident, saying only that it happened about 7:40 p.m. in the 100 block of Fairfax Place.
