The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office said it is seeking Elio Alexander Garcia, 42, who is accused of stabbing a friend in the abdomen after an argument on the night of June 26.

Sheriff James Pohlmann said in a release that the victim, 43, lived in an apartment in the same complex at 800 W. Genie St. as his attacker. After the two got into an argument in the parking lot, Pohlmann said, Garcia ran to his apartment to grab a knife, returned and stabbed his friend.

The victim drove himself to St. Bernard Parish Hospital and was then transferred to Interim LSU Hospital in New Orleans.

Police said Garcia has not been seen since the incident. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The Sheriff’s Office said it intends to book him on one count of attempted second-degree murder.
