Sheriff’s deputy injured in accident

An Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy assigned to the Motorcycle Division was taken to the hospital after a traffic accident shortly after noon Saturday at Earhart Boulevard and Leonidas Street.

Deputy Hugh Blatcher had just completed an escort and was returning to the Sheriff’s Office motorcycle barn when the accident occurred, said Philip Stelly, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

The New Orleans Police Department said the motorcycle was struck by a Ford F-150 truck driven by a 43-year-old man. The driver of the truck was on Leonidas Street attempting to cross Earhart Boulevard when he collided with the motorcycle, police said.

Blatcher was taken to the hospital for injuries suffered in the crash. His condition is unknown.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Man shot Friday on Marigny Street

A 20-year-old man was shot about 4:30 a.m. Friday in the 6000 block of Marigny Street, New Orleans police said.

The man was outside with friends when they heard gunshots and the man said he was shot. He was transported to a hospital in a private vehicle in stable condition.

Woman raped after accepting a ride

A 45-year-old woman said she was raped about 5:30 a.m. Saturday at Tonti and Port streets, New Orleans police said.

She said she accepted a ride with an unknown male motorist, who then produced a knife and assaulted her inside his vehicle.

Police seek two men in armed robberies

New Orleans police are asking for the public’s help in locating two men wanted in connection with armed robberies.

Daniel Hankton, 23, is wanted in an armed robbery that occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Friday in the 2100 block of Danneel Street.

Hankton’s last known address was in the 2700 block of Fourth Street.

George Albert Minor, 50, is wanted in an armed robbery that occurred July 12 in the 1700 block of St. Charles Avenue.

Armed robbery early Saturday in Harvey

An armed robbery occurred about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of Ute Drive in Harvey, according to Jefferson Parish 911 headquarters.

The female victim was not injured.
