A four-alarm fire damaged two homes in the 1900 block of South Dupre Street in the Broadmoor neighborhood of New Orleans Friday afternoon.
At 6:17 p.m., NOFD received the call and were dispatched. Upon arrival, firefighters found a vehicle parked in a driveway between two two-story homes heavily involved in a fire and the flames had already spread to both homes. One home was abdandoned and fully on fire and the other structure was only partially ablaze, and while firefighters fought to get them under control, both homes were eventuall engulfed.
Firefighters were able to control the fires and place it under control at 9:26 pm. In total, 31 NOFD units carrying 70 fire department heads were dispatched to the scene. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for exhaustion and difficulty breathing.
