A 13-year-old Kipp School student was booked by New Orleans police on Monday morning after bringing a loaded BB gun to campus.

The 7th grader, according to NOPD, told other students he had a gun in his school bag. Students then notified school officials who searched the school bag and recovered the gun.

NOPD was called, confiscated the gun and booked the student for bringing a loaded BB gun on school grounds.

“KIPP Leadership Academy takes the safety of staff and students very seriously, and we are cooperating with the New Orleans Police Department,” said Jonathan Bertsch, Kipp’s director of advocacy. “KIPP Leadership Primary and Academy families are being notified today about this incident.”

No one was injured in the incident.
