Skeletal remains found in Belle Chasse home
Plaquemines Parish authorities on Monday found skeletal remains inside an abandoned home in Belle Chasse.
A laborer who was cleaning the home in the 16000 block of La. 23 found a human skull and other remains about 11:30 a.m., said Cmdr. Eric Becnel, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Officials with LSU’s Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services Laboratory, often called in to help investigate cases involving skeletal remains, responded to the scene. Anthropologists with the lab will try to determine the age, ethnicity, gender and identity of the person.
There was no immediate indication of foul play, Becnel said, adding that detectives continue to try to determine the cause of death.
