Coroner IDs men killed in shooting on I-10
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has identified two men who were killed while driving early Saturday on Interstate 10.
Juan Rodgers, 31, and Vincent Williams, 25, were shot about 3:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of the highway near the Crowder Boulevard exit in New Orleans East.
The men were found dead inside a Toyota Corolla in the left service lane, police said.
Police have not identified a suspect or motive.
Officer treated for injury suffered during fight
A New Orleans police officer suffered a minor injury to his hand during a scuffle with a suspect early Monday morning.
The officer was in the 3700 block of Mimosa Court in Algiers when he heard shots fired about 1:30 a.m., according to a daily police log.
The officer got into a fight with the suspect and was treated at Tulane Medical Center.
Police did not say whether an arrest was made.
Man stabbed in Quarter during robbery attempt
A man was stabbed Sunday night in the French Quarter during a robbery attempt, police said.
The victim was in the 600 block of Decatur Street when an unknown man walked up to him about 10:20 p.m. and demanded money.
The victim refused and was stabbed.
Police did not provide any information on the victim’s condition or announce an arrest.
Armed men follow girl into home, rob family
Several armed men followed a 12-year-old girl into her Algiers home late Sunday night after she put out the garbage. They then robbed her family, New Orleans police said.
The girl took out the trash about 11:45 p.m. and walked back into her home in the 2200 block of Lauradale Drive.
Three or four men followed her inside at gunpoint, ransacked the home and escaped with $100 and one victim’s wallet.
