Human remains were discovered during a French Quarter renovation that uncovered bodies of New Orleanians long dead. The remains were found in what had been the city’s first main cemetery, on St. Peter Street. That cemetery was covered up as the city expanded, and over time buried remains became disturbed and moved. After a Mass on Saturday, mourners walked in a second-line to St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 for the reburial and then proceeded to Congo Square.
