Just ducky

The East St. John Elementary School 4-H Club is supporting the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana in its annual Rubber Duck Derby. The rubber ducks will race May 31 in New Orleans City Park, and the first 10 lucky ducks to finish the derby will win prizes for their adopted parents.

Duck adoptions are $5 each, a Quack Pack is available for $25 (six ducks; buy five, get one free), a Quackers Dozen for $50 (12 ducks; buy 10, get two free) or a Flock of Ducks for $100 (25 ducks; buy 20, get five free).

To help ESJE meet its goal, look for TEAM: St. John Elementary. Adoptions can be made online at www.duckrace.com/nola/teams/3671.

The adoption is a community service project of the ESJE 4-H Club. Last year, ESJE 4-H students worked in the warehouse of Second Harvest Food Bank to sort and box donations.

The club has supported the food bank almost every year with food drives to stock the warehouse.
