Suspect sought in Bywater robbery
New Orleans police are asking for help in finding a man who staged an armed robbery Friday at Jimmy’s Corner Grocery in Bywater.
About 11:45 p.m., a 48-year-old man was in the grocery in the 4200 block of Dauphine Street when he was approached by a man with a knife, police said. The robber forced the victim to open the cash register after failing to open it himself. He took $367 from the register before fleeing.
The suspect is described as a 25- to 30-year-old black man between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 and weighing 130 to 140 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.

Pair robbed man of $360 in N.O. East
The NOPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two people who robbed a man in the 12300 block of the I-10 Service Road.
About 10:30 p.m. Friday, a 25-year-old man was in the parking lot of an apartment complex when he was approached by two women. Moments later, a man walked up and demanded the victim’s money after implying he had a pistol in his pocket. The victim handed over $160. The robber then ordered the victim to ride with one of the females to an ATM to get more cash. They drove to an ATM in the 7000 block of Bullard Avenue. The victim withdrew $200 and gave it to the woman. He then drove the woman back to the apartment complex, where she and the man fled in a black SUV.
The male robber is described as a black man with a muscular build and a light complexion. He was wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans.

Suspects arrested for Algiers auto burglaries
The New Orleans Police Department has arrested three youths suspected of burglarizing five cars in Algiers during January, police said Saturday.
Officers arrested 18-year-old John Gilmore, 18-year-old DJ Don Murphy and a 16-year-old male whose name wasn’t released.
The trio burglarized vehicles on Vivian Court, in the 3500 block of Hyman Place and in the 3500 block of Plymouth Place, police said.
They were all booked on five counts of auto burglary.
Man, woman sought in carjacking of a cab
New Orleans police are asking for help finding two people wanted for robbing a taxi driver at gunpoint and stealing the cab, NOPD spokesman Officer Garry Flot said Saturday.
The cab driver picked up a man and a woman at Canal and Bourbon streets about 5 a.m. Friday. The woman asked to go to the 100 block of South Telemachus Street.
When the cab arrived there, the man pulled out a gun and demanded money from the driver, Flot said. The couple then ordered the driver out of the cab and drove away in it. The cab was recovered shortly afterward.
The two suspects were described as a 5-foot-9 black man and a 5-foot-9 black woman. They were caught on surveillance video that can be seen at http://youtu.be/_JpLAlqEEHQ.

Body found near Louisa Street I-10 exit
Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found late Friday near the Louisa Street exit from westbound Interstate 10.
New Orleans police found the body about 9:30 p.m. Friday, said Officer Frank Robertson, a spokesman for the department.
