An internal state audit has concluded that $1.1 million in state construction funds sent to Irvin Mayfield’s New Orleans Jazz Orchestra were properly spent on building the New Orleans Jazz Market in Central City, but a pending federal investigation into other funding for that project still has state lawmakers looking to withhold another $900,000 that had been allocated to it.

Louisiana lawmakers agreed to halt funding for the jazz orchestra last week.

But there were emails from 2008 that suggested that Mayfield sought more New Orleans Public Library Foundation money.
