NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Pilots on a Southwest Airlines airplane grounded a Phoenix-bound flight before it took off because someone found a suspicious object on board.
Media outlets report that the object was found just before 7 p.m. Thursday, prompting pilots of the flight to call local authorities. The flight was scheduled to leave Louis Armstrong International Airport at 7:30 p.m. The plane was cleared of any threat Thursday night.
Southwest spokeswoman Melissa Ford says the 134 passengers on the plane were relocated to a different flight to Phoenix.
Ford did not identify or describe the nature of the suspicious object.
